Local-first means audio, transcripts, and summaries stay on your laptop. Cloud features (Claude / OpenAI summarization) are opt-in and require your own API key.

Common questions about billing
Why one-time and not a subscription?
Because the product runs on your laptop, not in our cloud. There's no per-recruiter infrastructure cost we need to amortize across a monthly bill. Pay once, own the version.
What's free and what's paid?
Recording, file upload, and transcription are free forever. The AI summary that turns the transcript into a structured candidate writeup (skills, strengths, risks, next steps) is the paid feature.
What happens after 12 months of updates?
Your installed version keeps working forever. Local-first apps don't stop running. If we ship a major v2 with new capabilities, current customers get a discounted upgrade.
Is there a team or agency plan?
Not yet. For now, each recruiter buys their own license. If you're a team of 10+ interested in bulk licensing or a future shared template library, get in touch and we'll figure it out.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes — and you should. Recording and transcription are free forever, so you can run HireScribe on real interviews before paying a cent. The $79 license only unlocks the AI summary. Because you can fully evaluate the app first, all license sales are final.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac on Apple Silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 11 or later, 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB recommended), and about 5 GB of free disk. Everything runs locally and works offline after setup. A Windows build is planned but not yet available.
